As winter looms near, we have taken on the next monstrous project: the
HVAC system. But with any large project, there are the corresponding dependencies which really make my head spin. With this endeavor the attic had to be addressed prior to our new air conditioning condensers and air handlers being placed. In just two days, Gregg worked with Danny (the very very handyman) to transform the attic space.
- Installed new reinforced flooring along the knee wall parameter
- Installed insulation vents. Why? Because with slate roof above this space, typical insulation cannot be placed directly along roof line. If placed directly, condensation builds up which cracks and releases the slate seal on the roof.
- Stapled up insulation sheets between support beams.
- Pudged all exposed brick walls (except for dividing wall as we'll leave that exposed in final room design).
- Cleaned and brought out a dumpster bag's worth of old pipes, insulation, trash, wood chunks, vents and miscellaneous crap.
