The Kitchen, An Unexpected First Phase Project

For many, the kitchen is the heart of the home. For us, it encompasses all senses and is truly the place we spend the most of our time. Gregg is a phenomenally great cook and I do a mean cleanup job :)

When looking over the kitchen during our initial visits and during the home inspection, we thought we could live with the outdated style for a few years as long as we painted, cleaned and replaced the fridge and dishwasher.

Take a look at these photos taken during our home inspection and you'd think the same thing (tacky burnt orange but livable).

It wasn't until we started cleaning that we realized the cabinets were falling apart, the stove was leaking gas (smells great in here hun!) and no amount of bleach or other cleaning detergent could remove the nastiness that was left behind (later we learned from the executor that several cats had free reign of the space for a full year). At this point we decided we had no choice but to start anew and demo the kitchen.

  1. Man, L-O-V-E the old pots, pans, lamps on top of cabinets there. We've been trying to collect various objects like these (old milk bottles, old ball jars, kettles, etc) 'cause I'm obsessed. Let me know if you guys ever consider letting them go :)
