So Gregg called Van and this is the conversation that pursued:
Gregg: Hi, is this Van?So after Phong came by, he did give us an amazing price, almost a tenth of what some of the other guys charged and all three floors to be completed in one week's time. This of course lead to a logistical nightmare of where to put anything in the house as 90% of the house's floors are wood but that was managed and an airbed in the great room served as make-stay bedroom.
Van: No, this is Von!
Gregg: Ok, hi Von, I got your name from Franky and we were hoping you can come by our house for a quote?
VanVon: No, this is Von!
Gregg: Ya, hi Von, can you come by for an estimate?
VanVon: Not Von, VON!
Gregg: Ya, Von. Estimate?VanVon: My name is NOT VON, its PHONG!
GreggIdiot: Oh, ok Phong, can you come for an estimate?
VanVonPhong: Yes, you crazy but I give you good price!
True to his word, Phong came to house on a Friday with six other Vietnamese gentlemen and each was put to work in a specialized task. One had the massive sanding machine, one was hand-sanding the stairs and banisters, one was cutting out sandpaper molds for the machine, one was going around the edges of the room with a sand-edging tool. Within one day, they had sanded the entire house and even started coating some of the third floor. On Saturday they completed the first coat (by the way, REALLY REALLY SMELLY). And by Thursday of the following week, all three coats had been applied and dried and we were back in business!
Now you get to meet Phong!
His Team
And his amazing results.
