Making A List, Checking It Twice

No, this post is not about whose naughty and nice, I think you can all come to your own conclusions on that one! But on any common Monday, the water-cooler question is "what did you do this weekend" and many times I prefer a generic "worked on the house" response. The other option is trying to explain the nitty gritty and have people look at me with both confusion and disgust. So here's the nitty gritty on what was done the past few weekends as well as a sneak peak of what's ahead in the next few weeks.

The List
Let me start by mentioning Gregg's career as a project manager. He is great at what he does as he is able to drive complex projects through to completion while mitigating risk and not letting details slip through cracks. So it's to no one's surprise that he is equally talented in managing our renovation.

First on the list, was the replacement of some old doors. To some who read this, it may seem strange that we would replace good wooden doors with new ones. Beyond the sloppy layers of paint, the original doors were also complete with old fashioned mortise locks. The problem with that, is once they break and pieces of the knobs are lost, they are next to impossible to fix. Can we say specialist? Because of this expensive reason, we decided to replace three doors on the first floor with new wooden doors. The pantry door, the basement access and the powder room door.

Next on the list was protecting the corners of the lincrusta. Over the years, dryness plus everyone bumping up against it had made the corners fray. We picked corner molding, cut down to size and installed in 7 places throughout the house. Now we just have to paint to match trim but hallway painting is way down the road.

Next week's list so far?
