Want To See What Progress Looks Like?

A Great Vantage Point To Watch A Sunset

Good Timing
So the day before the girls from out of town (& in) descended on our house, we were lucky enough to wrap up most of construction on the first floor projects. Don't get me wrong, as with all of our massive projects, there always remains a lingering punch list. Long after the dust of 'wow it looks like it's done' has settled, we will still be tediously wrapping up loose ends but for now, let's enjoy progress.

The Fun We're Now Able To Have in Dining Room (thanks Thu for photo!!)

A Rundown Of Our Open Projects
Some of these things may seem small but after living in construction for the past year and half, it's the litle things that bring Gregg and I the most joy.

The Nook in Benjamin Moore's 'Almost Black'
The Junior Suite
While not a completed space just yet, we have fresh paint on the walls which makes it really come to life (and I can start imagining all the endless decor options).

What's Left?

  • Electrical
  • Building out the closets
  • Polishing floors
  • Staining thresholds

The Missing Threshold Between Main Room & Nook
The beautiful bedroom painted in Benjamin Moore's "Almost Gray"
The Attic
While this room has been done from a construction stand-point for quite awhile, I have still been busy in the space adding decor, furniture and moving stuff around.
A New Home For The Tub Couch Adds Extra Seating To Watch A Movie
Books, Photos, & Pillows Warm Up the Space
DVDs, Tchotchkes & A New Rug
I <3 my Bird Canisters (which hide bath essentials)
New Martha Stewart Craft Furniture & Rug
What's Left?
Just a few more tweaks, some more artwork on the walls, a lot more cleaning and the Martha Stewart Craft Table to add an island-like workstation in the middle of the craft room and we'll be all set.

The Powder Room
LOVE the 75% Powder Room
After MONTHS of just roughed in plumbing, sub-floor and dreams of a re-purposed antique server, most of my dreams of this classy bathroom are coming true.
What You Can't See Is the Glass-like Epoxy Finished Top
What's Left?
  • Installing the toilet paper holder and towel ring
  • Wallpaper
  • Baskets with 'stuff' in disappearing black shelving alcove
  • Installing the fan & vanity light

 The Breakfast Room
So yes, the Brazillian teak wood is gorgeous BUT the recent feature of the breakfast room that I'm most excited about? The cabinets are up above the washer and dryer!!! And yes, they are more gorgeous than this photo shows but the real reason I'm excited is I finally have a place to put laundry stuff and all my cleaning supplies. Wahoo! No longer do I have to go hunting through the green room in boxes or leave supplies all over the floor getting covered in dust.

What's Left?

  • Paint the church pews
  • Find/buy two barstools
  • Get b&w mural installed over stove
  • Hang Mantel Shelf
  • Stain Thresholds
  • Install curtain rods for two windows and w/d closet

 The Dining Room
As you can see in the first photo of this post, we finally got to enjoy our fabulous new dining room. Gregg and Danny's hard work paid off and everything from the wainscoting to the filling of gaps between new walls and trim to painstakingly painting all the oil-based (aka unforgiving) trim and bright blue walls. Thanks to my bargain hunting abilities, we scored a gorgeous 1960s Spanish-style Thomasville table and chairs off of Craigslist.

What's Left?

  • Window coverings: Tara (the same seamstress that made the bath tub cushion) is making Roman shades using fabric Gregg and I got for $1-$3/yard at Jomar (highly recommend for all those local to Philly needing fabric).
  • Install chandelier (remember this beauty?)
  • Add furniture - the space seems a lot larger now that the table is in place
  • Find a nice rug

What Room's Are NOT Done

Gregg Relaxing In Our No-Where-Close-To-Being-Renovated-Master-Bedroom

  • Master Bedroom (not planned for major renovation until 2013)
  • Great Room (painting to start whenever we gain some serious motivation)
  • 2nd Floor Bath (painting, electrical, and shower curtain ring to be finished)
  • Home Office (painting, next on list)
  • 2nd Floor Bedroom (painting, low priority)
  • All hallways (painting)
  • Backyard/garage/deck installation (just dreams or some time in the extreme future)
