We interrupt design ideas to showcase...

STRIPPING!

Don't be alarmed folks, nothing but clean fun (and exhausting, back-breaking, super sweaty) work here!

After a full cycle of cleaning, patching, prepping, sanding, priming and then painting (mostly Gregg's labors), Gregg and I are interrupted by the realization that the oil paint has to go! This type of paint exists on all the molding throughout the house but has three levels in the dining room, base boards, chair rails and ceiling molding. Gregg's coworkers warned against the future issues of paint (rare oil or even common latex) easily bubbling or peels off within a year of painting so all your painting trials and tribulations are for not. After confirming this new knowledge with This Old House, our go-to source for all things related to house improvement, we decided stripping was a must.

The task of stripping is not single faceted, it starts with painting paint stripper on desired area. This may seem simple but the stuff is TOXIC and you must be exact as to not damage other wall areas or even worse, the wood floor. After ten minutes, the next step is scraping. Each detailed nook and cranny of the molding must be found. Every edge, corner, and crevice is extremely tasking to get at but time and patience works best. Lastly, two rounds of sanding (medium then fine) complete the process.

Here's us in action...
