Attempting to give Dave bunny ears (and Steve's face is priceless) |
Every time Bart, the executive producer, yells that he wants talent ready I have to giggle to myself. He is actually considering two normal (well somewhat crazy) people along with the host, the 'talent' of this show. I'd argue the talented people are the
contractors from Yeager Construction. They have masterfully transformed our space in rapid time.
This past Saturday's shoot included lots of mock interviews what they call OTFs (On The Fly interviews). Yes, we are getting fluent in reality television jargon. Gregg shot a scene of him first picking out what type of hardwood floor to use based on budget before actually laying it. BUT, this wasn't reality because...

Floor Scene Prep |
|
The Floor Selection Scene |
- The designer already picked out the wood color
- The hardwood was donated by the manufacturer so price wasn't a factor except for FREE
- The Yeager guys had already laid most of the hardwood throughout the space
|
TJ & Rob from Yeager |
So while Gregg and Jeff were 'starting' the flooring install, apparently my wonderful better half took over as both host and contractor and had everyone rolling over in laughter when he messed up nailing down a piece of flooring and between cursing and yelling at it, he said 'screw it, just use some wood filler.' I guess we won't expect him to take
Jeff's job any day soon.

Shooting on the Roof for Solatube Scene |
The next scene we shot was Gregg and I on the roof with the
experts from Solotube which is the first daylighting system. Similar to skylights but MUCH cooler in that they spread light more evenly and will last a lot longer.
|
Executive Producers Bart & Jill (on the roof) |
Two funny bits from this shoot. One, is they taped a whole focus on me climbing the ladder in heels (doesn't anyone else do that??) and two, I managed to get burned while only up there for less than an hour shooting the scene.

Mira Watches Jeff Help Install The Solatube |
|
Solatube: you'll have to watch the episode to see it installed |
The last big scene of the day was with Jeff and I laying tile in the bathroom. And I must admit, I couldn't be happier with the tile options they selected, THEY ARE GORGEOUS!!
|
I can only take credit for laying three of those |
Overall, the space is really shaping up. The gorgeous granite and travertine from
Let's Get Stoned (yes we all giggled like five-year-olds when we saw the shirts) is stunning and ties the entire space together. The fact that they were able to even carry that much heavy stone all the way up four flights was impressive but the final shine and touch they applied was even more of a wow-factor.
I went up last night after everyone had left and check it out!
