Why Is Gregg Bathing On National Television?

Shoot Day #3: Gregg's Famous 'Tub Scene'

Bart reviews the upcoming 'tub' scene with everyone
The long day of filming continued with Gregg and Jeff back up in the attic. This was fun for me because between laughing at their ridiculous comments, I was able to take a sneak peak of what it's like behind the camera. Beyond the amazing technology of allowing them to instantly see what's in focus (it shows as outlined in thin red line if it's in focus), but I also saw how the producer coordinates the crew. Sound during a shoot like this is an art form. They can use audio clips from anyone whose miked independent of others so they mikes have to be tuned perfectly to not pickup other noises. General noise is then picked up from camera mikes. Then there are camera angles and which camera covers which person. These are generally decisions made by the executive producers (Jill and Bart) but the camera guys give input as well (JP head cameraman).

The boys (Jeff & Gregg) taking credit for my tub idea

So you're probably reading this on the edge of your seat, dying to know what this whole tub scene was about not caring about my explanation of the filming logistics (so much for trying to educate the masses). Well this scene was actually a last minute add and proves that if my consulting career doesn't last I have a chance at making it in reality television. Two days before our third shoot date, I emailed the executive producer with an idea. The producers (aka plot creators) had been struggling to determine what story they could build around us removing our clawfoot tub that has been stored in our attic for the last 40 or so years. The idea of lifting it out the same way drywall came in was the main idea but that still left them with the chance that it could fail miserably and we'd have a hole in a roof. That and we'd lose our cool tub.

So I researched re-purposing tubs and found this great idea taken straight from Audrey Hepburn lounging in Breakfast at Tiffany's. After they jumped on this idea, the stuff that took place while making this a reality was pure television gold :) *Disclaimer* Jeff will take all the credit for my idea and shamelessly gloated the entire scene (but at least you now know the truth) Take a look...
